A cash reserve written to the bills this household actually pays.

At the office in Tambon Manang Tayo, households sit down with passbooks, school calendars, and the months when earnings go quiet. The work is an emergency fund with a baht figure, a holding place, and a contribution that can survive an ordinary payday.

What comes to the first meeting

On the table

01 — Passbook

The account you already call the reserve

Some households have a savings book with a round number written on the cover. Others have cash in a drawer that is meant for hard weeks and is often used for ordinary ones. We start from whatever is actually there.

02 — Term dates

School fees and other bills with a month attached

A May term fee is a planned cost. If it shares an account with emergency cash, a broken pump in April can spend the fee. The meeting separates those pots before anyone has to choose in a hurry.

03 — Thin months

The weeks you can already name

Fishing, rubber, a market stall, a wage that pauses: most families in this province can point to the quiet stretch. Naming it is the start of a resilience plan, rather than treating every quiet month as a fresh shock.

Central engagement

Household Emergency Fund Plan

Two meetings, about four weeks apart, for a household with one or two sources of income. You bring the papers. We leave you with a written reserve note in English: a target in baht, the account or envelope that holds it, a contribution for the next 90 days, and a short rule for what may be withdrawn.

The starting fee is 4,800 baht. A third income, a cash business, or more than one household under the same roof is quoted before a date is held. Securities, tax returns, and insurance policies sit outside the meetings. The cash stays in an account you control.

Naree Sangsawang leads the plan. When the year rises and falls with a season, Farida Wae-useng draws the year strip alongside it.

Field note · 14 January 2026

The three-month rule, and the household it misses

A flat three months of expenses can hide a school-fee month and overstate a quiet one. The note walks through essential costs that continue when income stops, using a worked illustration in baht that you can replace with your own list.
